Kutani-yaki Kinoko Brush
Kutani-yaki is a traditional craft that constantly evolves, creating new styles while honoring its rich heritage. One of its most distinctive techniques is "Akae Saibyo," characterized by incredibly fine, intricate red lines. This style uses Bengara (red iron oxide) for its pigment, accented with gold leaf or glaze to add a touch of elegance.
Originating in the late Edo period, it became a star export during the Meiji era, gaining worldwide fame as "Japan Kutani."
To bring this exquisite beauty to your daily life, I have collaborated with the artisans of the Fukushima Busan school—masters of the Akae Saibyo technique. Using their extraordinary skills, they have hand-painted these stunning patterns onto the handles of my Kinoko brushes.
