Please take a look at before you use a Takeda brush

  • Washing before use: This significantly strips away the natural oils from the hair. (While common with other Kumano brushes, it is not advised for ours.) This can lead to severe deterioration of both the shape and hair quality.

  • Spreading the bristles: Attempting to fan out the brush reduces its density. Since the brush is not designed for this, it will cause the shape to collapse.

  • Brush cleaners: Many cleaners contain solvents or synthetic detergents that are incompatible with our brushes.

  • Applying pressure: Our brushes have resilient tips that provide excellent color payoff with just a light touch. Conversely, pressing down too hard causes the hair to twist and eventually break.

Engraving color to maple handle

The text on the maple barrel is naturally "colorless" (laser-engraved without color filling). Because it shows the natural charred color of the wood, please note that we cannot control or adjust the exact shade.
However, it should result in a similar brown tone, so we appreciate your understanding that it will be considered the same color.

About "Takeda Brush" (from their own introduction) 
"Takeda Brush" is the company that was established in 1947 as a make-up
brush producer, utilizing the town's traditional technics.


Now we produce various kinds of make-up brushes for Japan's traditional
Kabuki theater, other theaters, brides and everyday use.


Since around 1975, we have focused on the development of original
products, and started to produce and sold a range of products unparalleled in
the world. Since around 1985, we started to develop a new original technics
for making brushes fitting present age make-up, by incorporating Europian
brush technology to Japanese tradition technology.


Now we have small production, but produce wide variety of brushes. By all
supporters favor, we attach importance to "quality of brushes" and always try
to pursue how best quality about make-up brushes are.


On 2011, Japanese government adopt "Takeda Brush" products as extra prize
for "Nadeshiko Japan" (Women's Soccer World Champion), when they received
"National Honor Award".


About the town "Kumano"
"Kumano" is one of the most famous areas in Japan, about manufacturing
brushes. The history of the town's brush making dates back to the mid-19th
century. In Kumano, there are many companies related to brushes (most
brushes are mainly for Japanese calligraphy, painting and make-up). Each
company has also various styles. Small companies adopt almost handmade,
big companies adopt mass production by machines and division works. Dealing
brushes company, and some companies have main factory in foreign countries.
Manufacturing Technics are also various derived from tradition ones. These
diversity of technics and opinions about brushes gather in Kumano.
Collect these products made in Kumano are called "Kumano - fude" or
"Kumano brushes". Today it is said that "Kumano brushes" account for 80
percents of Japan's total production of brushes.
