Today is a holiday in Japan. I usually take the subway at 10:47 so I can be on time for the morning set at the cafe. The morning set is served before 11AM.
I was on time at the station, but I forgot that today is a holiday and the train was at 10:51.
I arrived at the cafe after 11 AM, so I missed the morning set.
After I sat down in the cafe, a waitress came to me and asked, “Would you like toast or sweet bread with the morning set?”
I said, “I entered your cafe after 11 AM, so I'm late for the morning set.”
She said, “Really? I need to check and come back.”
After one minute, she came back and said, “You checked in at 11:00:49, and if it's before 11:01, you can still have the morning set.”
I said, “Oh, that's a very detailed rule, and your cafe is strict, isn’t it? But thank you!”
